Justine Schmidt

Justine Schmidt, PBS North Carolina's chief content officer, is an award-winning filmmaker and media executive with more than 25 years of experience in all areas of content acquisition, development, and production.
Having spent her formative years in North Carolina, Schmidt’s career has taken her all over the world. She is a graduate of American University's School of Communication in Washington, D.C., and the University of California at San Diego's Scripps Institution of Oceanography, where she earned a master's in marine biodiversity and conservation.
She has served as a key member of various linear and digital platform launches, including Smithsonian’s global networks, Discovery’s global channels, M Media, Alhurra TV, and has garnered CINE and Emmy awards.
